Simplify Watering!
Have a tricky plant in a spot that is hard to water, or always spills over onto your nice wood furniture? Instead of watering it the old-fashioned, “normal” way, just place 2 or 3 ice cubes on the dirt once a week. I started doing this last year and now water mostly with ice cubes, as it is way less messy. And it couldn’t be easier!
Is there a formula for how many ice cubes in what size pot? I would guess the larger the pot, the more ice cubes required. Sounds like a great idea!
For my orchids and herbs in 4 inch pots I’m lucky to get 3 ice cubes in. I try not to put too many in my larger pots, like my orange tree and banana plant, since they are more tropical, I don’t want to freeze them. It really works best for those smaller, full pots that spill over with dirt and water when you water or for those plants that the water goes through too fast. Best of luck to you and your plants, would love to hear about any successes or failures.
