Garden Expo

Garden Expo is this February 11-13 at the Alliant Energy Center in Madison, Wisconsin. I HIGHLY recommend going.

If you don’t have a chance to go, no worries. You can always hire Mel’s Green Garden to incorporate and plant the many amazing ideas from Garden Expo into your garden.

I never made it over to the Garden Expo before I started my garden-design business, thinking it was just booths and tables with vendors selling their “stuff.” They do have those, of course. For example, I picked up some wonderful lemon thyme from Klein’s Floral & Greenhouses. Many of the gardening stores pass out coupons for future discounts and free products. But what is so attractive about Garden Expo is the wide range of classes and lectures offered. Last year I went to many talks. My favorite seminars were two talks by Mark Dwyer from Rotary Gardens, and I plan to attend his seminars this year. Last year I also attended Ed Lyons’ talks and hope to get to his talks this year, too. He is an excellent speaker and full of so much fun gardening wisdom.

One of the best parts of gardening is that there is always more to learn, so exercise your brain and attend one or more of the over 100 seminars offered at Garden Expo 2011. I can’t think of a better thing to do this time of year. It is a great way to get inspired to start planning your Summer 2011 garden.
